Taskforce launched to stop SLAPPs against journalists
The Telegraph (£), Daily Mail, Times (£), Guernsey Press, Redditch Advertiser, Milford Mercury, the Gazette and more than 400 other regional outlets report that the Law Society is part of a new government taskforce which aims to put a stop to Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (SLAPPs) against journalists.
SLAPPs are often used by wealthy individuals to try and stop journalists or campaigners from exposing wrongdoing under privacy and defamation laws.

LBC (from 00:19:55) mentions that a member of the Law Society called the decision by a German court to halt extradition due to the poor state of UK courts “a severe rebuke and an embarrassment against the UK.”
