Lawyers using AI
The Telegraph (£) looks at law firms use of artificial intelligence (AI).
Law Society President Lubna Shuja said the time savings created by AI would help solicitors to develop their soft skills.
“Empathy, compassion and emotional intelligence will remain critical, as more generative AI grows. What it means to be a lawyer will evolve, as will the type of jobs available to them and the skills required for these.”

London Legal Walk
Legal Futures looks ahead to this year’s London Legal Walk.
The annual fundraiser, which is now in its 19th year, raises funds to support free legal advice agencies in London and the South East.
Law Society President Lubna Shuja said: “I am thrilled to be taking part in the London Legal Walk on 13 June with many others from the legal profession to help raise funds for free legal advice charities.
“The legal help these charities provide to those in need is more important than ever given the cost-of-living crisis. I encourage everyone who can to join the walk and help raise as much money as possible for access to justice.”
Retained EU Law Bill
New Law Journal covers a reported government climbdown on the Retained EU Law Bill.
Law Society Vice President Nick Emmerson said: “We are relieved the government has listened to the Law Society and others who have called for a rethink of this legislation.
“While we wait to see which pieces of legislation will be set for removal, it is a positive step for business certainty that the government will provide much needed clarity on the future of individual aspects of retained EU law. Government should publish the full, exhaustive list of every piece of legislation at risk without delay.”
