Law Society regional admission ceremonies
Legal Cheek covers the Law Society’s plan to trial regional admission ceremonies.
A Law Society spokesperson said: “Qualifying as a solicitor is a huge achievement and the Law Society is looking for viable ways for more people to attend admission ceremonies and celebrate this milestone with friends and family.
“We must do this in a way that is accessible, meets demand and is financially viable. We hope to trial the first Law Society regional admission ceremony later this year.”
Law Society issues legal challenge to criminal legal aid decision
The Law Society has applied to the High Court for permission to challenge the government’s decision not to increase criminal defence solicitors’ legal aid rates by the recommended minimum 15%, New Law Journal reports.
Pay gap report
The Law Society’s pay gap report is covered by Solicitors Journal (£). To provide greater transparency, the Law Society is publishing disability, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation/identity and trans identity pay gap figures.
Law Society CEO Ian Jeffery said: “We’re committed to reducing our pay gaps by focusing on actions that are likely to have the widest impact.”
