Life of a divorce lawyer
Karen Dovaston, a member of our family law committee, spoke with i News and MSN about her day-to-day life as a divorce lawyer, ahead of the highly anticipated divorce reform, which comes into force on 6 April 2022.
She said: "Under the new law, you just file a statement that says the marriage is over, I wish to be divorced. I think that's quite important, because it's actually treating people like grown-ups. It's giving them some autonomy and it also means you're taking the heat out of the situation."
Human Rights Act

"The government is introducing changes that would make the state less accountable," said Law Society president I. Stephanie Boyce.
"This undermines a crucial element of the rule of law, preventing people from challenging illegitimate uses of power."
Burberry British Diversity Awards
I. Stephanie Boyce was jointly awarded the Inspirational Model of the Year at the Burberry British Diversity Awards.
She told the Gazette: "I am delighted and humbled to have won the Inspirational Model of the Year award. I have personally seen what a difference a visible role model can make and the confidence it can give others."

House theft
I. Stephanie Boyce is quoted in Biz News Post in the context of a new ITV drama which documents a character who has her house stolen.
"These frauds can involve huge sums of money and have a devastating lifelong impact on the home buyer and their personal finances. Solicitors and their clients can all play a part in making such crimes more difficult for the criminals," she said.
