Levelling up
Solicitors Journal covers Law Society president I. Stephanie Boyce's warning that ministers' ambitions for levelling up are unlikely to be achieved unless justice is properly funded.
"Legal services are the hidden wiring that makes local economies tick, and the key to unlocking the potential of businesses in all parts of the country," she said, adding, "A successful levelling up strategy should seek to leverage the power of the legal services sector to drive growth by investing in the infrastructure our sector relies on – most notably the courts."
Information for buyers
The Gazette reports that in the levelling up white paper the government states legislation will be introduced if necessary to ensure more upfront information is available to prospective home buyers in a piece that refers to our TA6 property forms.
The 332-page document, published on Wednesday, states around a third of all housing transactions fall through, costing people hundreds of millions of pounds, and pledges to improve the 'expensive, time-consuming and stressful' process of buying and selling a home.
It says: 'The UK government and the industry will work together to ensure the critical material information buyers need to know – like tenure type, lease length and any service charges – are available digitally wherever possible from trusted and authenticated sources, and provided only once. If necessary, the UK government will legislate."
