Lawyers boycotting courts
The BBC reports that some defence lawyers in Scotland are boycotting court cases over a lack of legal aid funding. The article quotes our research that there has been a 40% fall in the number of firms carrying out legal aid work in England and Wales in the last decade.

SQE diversity gap
Today's Family Lawyer reports on the disparity in pass rates between white students and students of colour in the first tranche of SQE results.
"I offer my congratulations to those students who passed the SQE1, you have studied hard and are well on your way to joining our profession. We are, however, concerned at the attainment gap between white and Black, Asian and minority ethnic students," said I. Stephanie Boyce.
Legal charity celebrates milestone
LawCare, which began life in its first employee's kitchen in 1997 with a grant from the Law Society, published its 2021 impact report, Today's Conveyancer reports.
CEO Elizabeth Rimmer is quoted: "We are very proud that we have supported over 10,000 people in the legal community since we began 25 years ago."
