The Gazette reports I. Stephanie Boyce's speech at the Conservative Party conference.
Stephanie told a fringe event organised by the Law Society, Bar Council, All-Party Parliamentary Group on Legal Aid and LawWorks, attended by solicitor general Alex Chalk QC MP, that the justice system and legal services sector help to drive levelling up by providing vital legal advice to small businesses on everyday issues; creating high-paying professional jobs in areas outside of the traditional metropolitan hubs; and empowering local people to use the law to resolve situations that blight their lives and communities.
Black History Month
Solicitors Journal reports the start of Black History Month.
Stephanie Boyce said: "We will be sharing stories of Black lawyers from across the profession throughout October. I wholeheartedly encourage my Black colleagues to share their stories and experiences and celebrate their achievements and diversity.
"This year's Black History Month comes just under a year after we published our Race for Inclusion report, which examined the experiences of Black, Asian and minority ethnic solicitors."
