South Asian Heritage Month
Australasian Lawyer and Canadian Lawyer report that six in 10 South Asian partners experience microaggressions at work, as we mark South Asian Heritage Month.
Law Society president Nick Emmerson said: “South Asian Heritage Month is important as it raises awareness of the richness of South Asia’s history and culture. It also recognises the diverse experiences and valuable contributions of South Asian communities in this country.
“This year the theme is ‘Free to be me.’ I encourage my South Asian colleagues and their allies to connect with each other this month, so we can celebrate the unique perspectives that make up our profession.”
Former Law Society president tribute
Times (£) and Gazette (p.5) pays tribute to former Law Society president Nicholas Fluck, who passed away on 11 July 2024. He served as president of the Law Society from 2013 to 2014.
President Nick Emmerson said: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Nicholas Peter Fluck, who served as the president of the Law Society of England and Wales from 2013 to 2014.
“Nick was highly regarded and lauded for his kindness, sincerity and diligence by colleagues and members alike. His commitment to the legal profession transcended his time as president, as he continued to support the profession as a council member for Lincolnshire.
“He will be thoroughly missed by those in the organisation and across the profession. Our thoughts are with his family at this time.”
