Yorkshire Law Society Wine Club

YLS Wine Club has been in existence since 2003, usually meeting in the charming setting of Bedern Hall in the centre of York for wine tasting with a buffet supper.  Geoff Walker of Colombier Vins Fins Ltd is our resident expert who conducts most of the tastings, although guest wine merchants are invited to give tastings from time to time.  Meetings are an excellent opportunity to find quality wine from small producers at very reasonable prices.  At the present time we aim to have two tasting meetings a year, one in early December with an eye to preparing for Christmas, and the other in June with the emphasis on summer wines.

The Wine Club has no joining fee; notice of each meeting is sent out in advance to those on its mailing list and tickets are issued on a "first come, first served" basis.  However, so long as you are a member of the YLS, you do not need to be on the mailing list in order to apply for tickets.  The charge per head is calculated on the basis of covering the costs of the individual event and so can vary, although typically it would be in the £15 to £20 range.  Meetings are informal and friendly with no particular knowledge of wines required.  You are very welcome to bring a reasonable number of guests along as well.  There is no obligation to attend a particular number of meetings or to buy any wine.
